Bodh Gaya blasts case: Timer for unexploded bombs traced to Gujarat

by

New Delhi: In a major development in the Bodh Gaya blasts case, the investigators have traced the timer of the unexploded bombs to Gujarat. Sources have told CNN-IBN that the Lotus company analogue clocks used as timers were manufactured in Rajkot.

Investigators have also claimed that the lot of clocks was sold to a buyer from Guwahati. This was revealed during the questioning of the clock manufacturer, National Investigation Agency (NIA) sources added.

The suspect whose sketch has been released also has Mongoloid features and the NIA claims that the bomb planters could be a mix of locals and Myanmarese or Bangladeshi nationals. The NIA has dispatched teams to Assam, Arunachal and Nagaland.

The NIA on Sunday also quizzed all members of the temple management committee separately to probe local angle.

A series of 10 explosions took place early on July 7 morning in Bodh Gaya in Bihar, leaving two monks injured. The temple complex and the sanctum sanctorum did not suffer any damage from the blasts.

The Bodh Gaya temple is a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is where the Buddha, who was born in neighboring Nepal, attained enlightenment around 2,550 years ago.
