India sends Mars Mission into space, a symbolic coup over China, Japan

India's journey to the Mars has begun with the successful launch of the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). Indian Space Reserach Organisation (ISRO) joined an elite club of just four agencies in the world which dared to travel to Mars. The Rs 450 crore Mars Orbiter Mission was successfully launched from Dr Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, a small coastal village in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday at 2:38 pm.

Two ships Nalanda and Yamuna stationed by the ISRO in the South Pacific Seas sighted the Mars Orbiter separating from the launch vehicle; it has been tracked by deep space satellites and transmitted back to international reception centres across the globe. The ejection of the satellite over the South Pacific was flawless.

Fire Accident at Kumbakonam Fire Cracker Unit Kills 8

A Major fire accident took place today inside a fireworks factory in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Total 8 people were killed in these explosions. Another 20 people are said to be injured. Sources say this incident occurred while workers are busy in their work making fireworks. Injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Some people are reported seriously injured. Death toll is expected to rise further. Full details regarding to this incident are yet to be known.

Supreme Court Upholds the appointment of U.K.Sinha as SEBI Chief

Supreme court today upheld the appointment of U.K.Sinha as SEBI chairman. A bench of  justices S S Nijjar and P C Ghose dismissed a PIL filed by Arun Kumar who complained that there are irregularities in the appointment of U.K.Sinha as SEBI chief.  "His appointment has been made in  accordance with the procedure of the law" said Bench answering the PIL.
