Notification issued for 13,000 Posts recently

Indian railways had issued a notification for recruitment of 13,000 posts in various zones and categories this year. The positions include Signal(Grade-2,Grade-3), Telecom Maintainer, Amateur Winder, Electrical Train Lighting, Electrical Fitter, Electrician, Diesel Electrical Fitter, Switch Board Attendant and Air Compression Driver, Crane Driver, Machine off set printing, Composing, Binding, Way Bridge, Hammer Man, Polisher, Trimmer, Moulder, S and T Workshop, Sheet Matter Worker, Building Constructor, Mason, Painter, Tool Fitter, Tool and Dye Maker, Turner, Piper Fitter, Plumber, PlantOperator, Motor Mechanic, Motor Truck Driver, Wagon Driver, Driver cum Mechanic, Engine Development, Compressor Driver, Truck Machine.  For Signal Grade Posts candidate must be B.SC(Physics) Passed or he must be Intermediate passed with Physics and Math’s as subjects.

 For other posts (10th Passed candidates ITI Certificate is necessary). 

Age: 18 to 30 Years.

Selection Procedure: They will select in means of Written Test and Medical Test. Written Test consists of 100 Marks. The questions will be about General Awareness Arithmetic, General Intelligence, Reasoning, and Technical Ability. 

Previous year Indian railways recruited almost 16,000 members. There are chances of recruiting more posts in future.

What are the Job Types in Indian Railways?

There are two types i.e Gazetted and Non-Gazetted. Group A and B comes under Gazetted. Group C and D comes under Non-gazetted posts. Union Pubic service commission (UPSC) takes the responsibility for recruiting Groupa-A posts. The recruitment for Group-B posts from Group-C posts will be based on Promotions. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Recruits Group-C and D posts in Non-gazetted cadre by zone wise. Group C and D posts will be two types one is Technical and the other is Non-Technical. The exams which are conducted basing on 10th and Normal degree come under Non-Technical.


From Tenth to Medicine:

With 10th as a qualification one can get jobs like Train Clerk/Goods Clerk/ Coaching Clerk/ Ticket Collector/ Commercial Clerk/Railway Protection  Force(RPSF) Constable and jobs which come under Group-D like Trackmen, Gatekeeper, Helper, Safaiwala, Peon, Hamali, Kalasi, Porter etc.

For ITI Candidates, they can get some jobs in Group-D posts or as Assistant Loco pilot.

For Candidates who complete Diploma, they will get a Job as Junior Engineer.

For Degree Holders, they can get jobs like Railway Protection Force (RPSF) SI, Goods Guard, Assistant Station Master, Junior Accounts cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist.

For Engineering holders, they will get jobs as Section Engineer.

Like this RRB Provides Jobs According to Academic Background. There are other posts also like Medical Officers, Staff Nurse, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, Paramedical, Teacher, and Law Assistant. For Medical/Paramedical/Teacher Posts they should posses Degree/Diploma as department wise.

Technical Jobs: Diesel Assistant, Electrical Assistant, Assistant Loco Pilot, Skilled Artisan, Section Engineer, Junior Engineer Apprentice, Electrical Foremen, Electrician, Material Superintendent etc..

Non-Technical Jobs: Ticket Collector, Goods Guard, Assistant Station Master, Traffic Supervisor, Reservation Cum Enquiry, Clerk, Train Clerk, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Statistical Assistant, Stenographer, Office Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Coaching Clerk, Junior Accounts Assistant etc..

Recruitment Procedure:
This procedure varies from job to job. Normally written test, Aptitude Test, Physical Test, Viva Test Topics will be there in recruitment process. They will ask questions on topics like General Knowledge, General Intelligence, General English, and Analytical Ability. You will get questions about the Topics According to your Qualification. The Exam Pattern/Question Level will be there according to the said qualification. There will be Negative Marking.

When we look closely on Category wise of Selection Procedure:

For Safety Category Posts like Probationary Assistant, Assistant Station Master, and Assistant Loco pilot has Two Phase of selection procedure one is written test and the other is Aptitude test. They will recruit only when the concerned person achieves merit.
For Non-Technical category posts like Clerks, Traffic and Commercial Apprentice, Junior Accounts, Enquiry cum Reservation Assistants also has two phase of selection procedure. They will confirm recruitment which will be based on Merit achieved in 2nd Phase. Clerical Cadre must qualify in Typing Test.
For the Technical cadre posts like Section Engineer, Junior Engineer, Technicians, Paramedical, written test will be conducted at the same time.
Rajbhasha Assistants will be recruited by written test and qualifying Translation test.
For the Junior Stenographer Posts there will be a two phase selection procedure, one is written test and the other is Shorthand test.
For the posts like Teachers, Law Assistants, Physiotherapist, Telephone Operators, First a written test will be conducted and then thereafter the candidates will be selected which is based on Interviews.
For the Posts like RPF SI/Constable Selection Procedure will be based on Written Test, Physical  Test, Viva walk test.

Group A Posts:
UPSC will Fulfill Group-A posts. For this you have to write Civil Services, Engineering Service Exam, Special Class Railway Apprentice (SSRA) Exams. The Railway Jobs which UPSC Fulfills are as follows:

Special Class Railway Apprentice(SSRA):
With this exam there is a chance for completing your Mechanical Engineering Degree for free. After the completion of the course you can get Class-1 level Job in Railways. In the Course tenure they will provide training in London for one year. Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, awards a Mechanical Engineering certificate for you. Selection will be based on Written test and Interview procedure. Qualification: Inter (MPC) passed with 50% of marks. Written Test: There will be 3 papers for 600 Marks. Paper-1 - General Ability Test, Paper-2 - Physical Science, Paper-3 - Math’s. 200 Marks for each paper. 200 Marks will be allotted for Interview.

- Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS)
- Indian Railway Personal Service (IRPS)
- Assistant Security Officer-Railway Protection Force
Notification: Every Year December/January
Qualification: Any Degree.
Age: 21-30 yrs.
Selection Procedure: Written Test (Prelims, Mains), With Interviews.

 Category 1:
Indian Railway service of Engineers (Civil)
Indian Railway Stores Services (Civil)
Category 2:
Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers
Indian Railway Stores Services (Mechanical)
Category 3:
Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers
Indian Railway Stores Service (Electrical)
Category 4:
Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers
Indian Railway Stores Services ( Tele Communication, Electronics Engineering Posts)

Qualification: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Age: Min 21 - Max 30 yrs.

Medical Officer: Medical Officer (Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Railways) posts will be fulfilled through Combined Medical Service Examination which will be conducted by UPSC. Notification will be issued in August month. Exam will be conducted in January month. Age: 32 Yrs.

Presently Indian Railways is fulfilling posts through Centralized Notification. In this situation they will detect the vacant posts by zone wise and they will allot posts for the concerned persons belonging to that particular zone. They are providing an opportunity to opt for writing in official language belonging to that zone. In the past question paper used to have only in Hindi and English. That means they are providing an opportunity for you to write in your own language. But the candidates have to confirm at the time of applying.  By this procedure it will be easier for local candidates who face problems with Hindi and English while writing the exam.
